Men’s Church Softball League
Registration: April 2 - 20, 2012
Entry Fee: $325.00
The recreation department will provide a 40 core softball and bats for league games. Games will be scheduled generally on Monday evenings. Tournament will be played on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings following the conclusion of the regular season.

ALL ABOUT FISHING PROGRAM
Date: July 12, 2012
Where: Gatewood Park and Reservoir, Pulaski, VA
(Transportation will be provided)
The program is for kids to be introduced to the fun sport of fishing. Learn to fish for bass, crappie, bluegill, etc. at Gatewood Park & Reservoir.
Registration: March 5 - July 2, 2012
Trip will be limited to the first ten (10) people to sign up and pay.
Time: 7:30 am – 3:30 pm. Bus will load at the Galax Recreation Center
Who: Boys and Girls ages 8 - 16
Cost: $ 8.00 per person (includes bait, transportation, boat rental, life jackets and fishing equipment if needed)

5K Walk begins at 9:00 am

10K Run ~ $12.00 if postmarked by April 27, 2012
$17.00 thereafter and on race day.
5K Walk ~ $8.00
10K Race and 5K Walk entries include a commemorative race t-shirt. No awards will be given for the 5K Walk. Information: Contact the Galax Recreation Department at 276-236-3218
Race day registration is from 7:30 - 8:45 am at the Dr. Ed Dannelly Fitness Park gazebo. Registration closes promptly at 8:45 am. Awards will be given to all 10K run overall winners and 10K age group winners. The New River Trail 10K race & 5K walk will start and finish at the Dr. Ed Dannelly Fitness Park and follows the New River Trail. The 10K course is an out and back course. The course is entirely flat as it follows Chestnut Creek with the entire race being run on the New River Trail. |
Outdoor Volleyball
Felts’ Park outdoor sand volleyball courts will be available for use throughout the week during the summer except the week of July 4 and the Galax Fiddler’s Convention week. The sand courts are on a first come, first served basis each night.
Coed Volleyball
Registration: August 2 - 20, 2011
Entry Fee: $250.00
Matches will be played on available nights.
DIXIE UMPIRE CERTIFICATION MEETING
Thursday, March 15, 2012 at 6:30 pm at the Galax Recreation Center. Anyone interested in umpiring Dixie Youth or Boys Baseball during the summer of 2011 for the Galax Parks and Recreation Department is required to attend this meeting. Pay rate for umpiring each game is $25.00/$20.00 for plate/base umpires 8-12 year old games & $30.00/$25.00 for plate/base umpires 13-18 year old games. For information, contact 236-3218.
